This March the world will get the chance to see what an incredible team of programmers, librarians and marketers have created for the library field. The product is called LibraryAware. Essentially it is designed for those librarians who have a pretty good idea of what they need to be doing to create awareness in their community about their library but lack the time, training, or staff to do it well. We'll be sharing more about LibraryAware in the weeks to come, but for now let me tell you more about our fabulous team.

The People Behind the Scenes

The LibraryAware marketing content team consists of Kathy Stewart, Pam Jaskot and myself.  Pam and Kathy are librarians. Kathy came to us from Richland County Library and has worked as a writer for NoveList since 2007. Pam is a Library Consultant at State Library in North Carolina. Part of her responsibilities have included creating NCSL’s popular marketing tool kit and touring the state conducting marketing and advocacy workshops. I was the marketing director at the New Jersey State Library and am co-author of ALA’s best seller, Bite Sized Marketing, Realistic Solutions for Overworked Librarians.

We’ve been working closely with an eight-member technology team that consists of crazy-smart techies. You’d love them because they are committed to making a product that will work for you.  We love them because they listen. So for example, when a part of the program was too complicated for users, they went back to the drawing board until they came up with one that was really easy to use.  We also love them because they are smart, have cutting edge ideas, and won’t give up until we all agree it’s a good solution.

We also have eight libraries that are serving as our Advisory Board members. The members of the Advisory Board are: Durham County Library, Topeka Shawnee Library, Wake County Library, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Henderson County Library, Lexington Library, Somerset County Library, and Cook Memorial Library. Their advice has helped shape this product.

Together we have created LibraryAware.  If you'd like to receive updates about LibraryAware, please add your name to our mailing list.
