You may have noticed something a little different about our front page this week. Our old buddies Pete the Cat, Pigeon, Harold, and Mr. Tiger have taken center stage, alongside a few of their friends. Here at NoveList, we're celebrating Picture Book Month by spotlighting a few of our favorite picture books as Featured Read-alikes.

Download and print this flyer, made in LibraryAware, for use in your library!

Picture books aren't just for kids! In your library, why not spread the love to patrons of all ages? Get those gorgeous picture books off the children's room shelves and out into the rest of the library.

A few ideas:

  • Ask staff to pick a few personal favorites and display them at service desks.
  • Try a display for seniors of Great Books to Share with Your Grandkids.
  • Fill your teen displays with picture books that were really popular say, 12 or 13 years ago.
  • Use a few beauties as face outs tucked into the art and design stacks.
  • Got a local history room? Display picture books by regional authors or ones that take place in your area!

As we all know, appreciating great picture books is not the exclusive privilege of the pre-school set. Take some time to sit down with a classic you haven't read in a while. And if you need suggestions, we've made two flyers you can post -- one spotlighting picture book classics for kids and one with sophisticated picture books that will appeal to adults and teens.
