Are you ready for AASL's National Conference this week in Hartford, Connecticut? While this is a busy time for teacher-librarians, it'll be worth it -- the conference promises many sessions on a wide range of topics, particularly given the theme "Rising to the Challenge." There are concurrent sessions, author events, tours, general sessions and of course, the exhibits.

I'm ready, and excited to co-present with Toni Buzzeo, author extraordinaire of nineteen picture books including the recent award-winner, One Cool Friend, on Saturday, November 16. If you are at the conference, I hope you will join us in Capital 1 and 2 for our 10:15 A.M. session: Reading – the Core of Learning: CCSS in the Elementary School Library. We'll be talking about BOOKS, and working with AASL Standards for the 21st Century and Common Core Standards. So, you'll hear practical information you can take back to use at your school.

Can't make the session? We’ve made our handout packet available so you can still get Picture Book Extenders correlated to CCSS and Common Core Connections guides.

Looking forward to meeting you at AASL!
