Take the ARRT genre self-assessment
NoveList is pleased to offer our subscribers access to the 5th Revised edition of the Adult Reading Round Table’s Popular Fiction List. Librarians and readers can use the workbook to evaluate their familiarity and comfort with authors in the most popular genres. The self-assessment can be used to reveal holes in genre knowledge as well as to discover new authors to try.

Does your collection have all the “Essentials”?
When Core Collections became a NoveList product, we took to heart the idea that it would be “powered by NoveList.” That meant doing things like reevaluating genre and subject headings, as well as which classics are really essential for libraries to have. This work brought our attention to the recommendation levels in Core Collections. Honestly, the terms were vague when we want them to be specific. So we’re happy to unveil both the new terms AND provide some clarity into how we’re using them.

Introducing “Nonfiction that reads like fiction”
After some careful curating, our metadata librarians have come up with a new and exciting genre in nonfiction books for adults – Nonfiction that reads like fiction! These are books that while grounded in fact, biography or memoir, create a reading experience much like reading a novel. Think In Cold Blood, Educated: A Memoir, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, or I’ll Be Gone in the Dark.

Promotions are now Folders in LibraryAware
After hearing that many LibraryAware customers use promotions to store and organize their outreach and communication materials, we have changed “Promotions” to “Folders” and have introduced new tools that allow users to find, edit and publish files quickly.
